1) First impressions are incredibly important in life. They can be the deciding factor in getting a job, making new friends, and much more. It is so important to make a good first impression, because if it was a bad one, then people might not trust you, think you are a bad influence, etc. First impressions are opportunities in life.
ReplyDelete2) In this story, the first impressions that occur are quite significant. The man, Mr. Nuttel, came to a woman’s house hoping to tell her about his illness, when he came across the woman’s niece. At first, she was very collected and confident, but she began to soften up after she told Mr. Nuttel about a terrible accident. She told him an incredible story about how her aunt’s husband and her two brothers were killed three years before in a bog. This leaves the man feeling bad and sympathetic for both the young girl and her aunt.
3) After Mr. Nuttel had met the girl’s aunt, he began to talk about his illness. While he was telling his story, the woman’s husband and her two brothers came walking into the house. These were the very same men that the girl had said were dead. Mr. Nuttel ran out of the house, after seeing this all happen. After he had left, the niece told her aunt about how he had been trapped in a cemetery by a pack of dogs, and said he must have been afraid of the husband’s spaniel. At the end of the story, you realize that the tale had been completely made up by the young girl.
1. First impressions are important in life because they often tell you a lot about a person. They are also important because people will often make assumptions about a person based on those impressions. For example, if someone doesn't really talk that much someone else may think that they are very quiet. But, they could really be the exact opposite of that.
ReplyDelete2. The signifigance of first impressions in this story are very important. Vera started off by acting very composed to Framton and then asked him how well he knew her aunt. When he told her that he had never met her before, she made him feel sorry for them by telling him about what had happened three years prior. The story said that her aunt's husband, brothers and dog went hunting and never came back. It also said that her aunt thinks that they are still alive so she keeps the window open to see them when they come back.
3. At the end of the story, Mrs. Sappleton said that she saw her husband, brothers and dog walking home after hunting all day. Then, Frampton saw them and ran off right after that because of the story Vera had told him earlier that day. Vera tells her aunt that he probally ran of because he saw the dog. She then told her aunt a story that Frampton had told her about a dog running him into a cemetery and he had to spend the night in a empty grave with the dogs just above him.
1. It is often said,"you never get a second chance to make a first impression." Since people often make assumptions about others on the basis of their first impressions, it is very important to make a good first impression. For instance, If i was very sick in a job interview. During my interview I am coughing and blowing my nose and I am really disgusting. Now does the person who is interviewing me want to hire me? Probably not because he's thinking that i'm going to get him sick. So, I might not get the job opening. But what if I'm healthy and have a smile on my face? I'll probably have a better chance to get the opening. So first impressions are really important in life.
ReplyDelete2. What I found significant about first impressions in this story is was the amount of first impressions and how incorrect they were. First, the man's impression of the girl was that she was compassionate and normal. Then, he thought the lady was crazy. But, the first impression he made on the lady was that he only talked about his sickness and was afraid of something, and the impression he made on the husband was that he was afraid of dogs.
3. The plot twist at the end of this story is that the most unlikely character was the one who created the mess of first impressions. The little girl and her web of lies was uncovered at the end when she told a big whopper about the man! She said things about the man, from what we know about the story, that we knew were untrue. After reading what she said, there was an "ah-ha" moment. Everyone reading the story could then realize it was she that was the crazy one.
this is Grant goodwin i was on parkers account for a spanish report and forgot to sign back in on mine
Delete1.) First impressions in life are very important because it gives people a chance to have a hint of who you are and what you're like. Good first impressions can lead you to better friendships and better relationships. It can also lead you to trust someone. For example, if I was trying to make new friends, and I gossiped to them about other people, there's a good chance that they'll want nothing to do with me. Good first impressions can really change your life if you think about it.
ReplyDelete2.) The first impressions in this story play a huge part. Mr. Nuttel was going to a woman's house to explain his sickness to her. He was greeted by the woman's niece, and it was as if nothing was wrong with her. But then you saw that she was sad. She began telling him a story of her aunt's husband, brothers, and their dog and how they left to go hunting and never came back. She explained that they had been killed but her aunt still kept the window open, hoping they would come back. The man, Mr. Nuttel, felt sorry for her, and he had sympathy for her.
3.) The plot twist at the end of the story is shocking. The man begins talking to the woman (the aunt) about his illness when suddenly, her husband, two brothers, and dog came in. The niece had said that they were dead, and he was so confused, he ran out of the house. When he was gone, the niece had told her aunt that he was once trapped in a cemetary, being attacked by dogs, and he must've been afraid of the husband's dog. It was sudden and at first, you thought the aunt was the crazy one. But then you realized that the niece was actually lying.
First Impressions are key when meeting a new person. If you have a good first impression, they might like you more. Whereas on the other hand, if you don't make a good first impression, they might look down on you. If you want someone to think well than you, then make a good first impression.
ReplyDeleteThe first impressions in this story make the story interesting. First, when Mr. Nuttel meets the niece and she tells him the story of the hunters gone missing, he feels sympathetic for her and her aunt because he doesn't know that she is a jokester. Now Mr. Frampton thinks the Aunt is going to be all depressed and is going crazy when she tells him about the open window.
The plot twist is all focused on the little girl’s story from the beginning. Mr. Nuttel thinks the aunt is crazy and then he sees the 3 figures come up. When I first read this I thought supernatural things were happening, along with Mr. Nuttel. Then at the end you find out that the niece was playing a prank on the man and that they had just gone out for the day to hunt. The funniest I think in the story is that he went there to calm his nerves and have mental rest, but turns out he had the opposite!
1. First impresions are very important in life because people tend to judge you on who you are before they get to know you well. It is best to make the best impression of someone the first time or you might not get a second chance to change their opinion towards you. For example, you probably made the assumption that I am a bad speller because I spelled "impressions" wrong in the first sentence.
ReplyDelete2.The significance of the first impressions of this story were quite important. First, Framton thought that Vera was very self-possessed. Then he thought that Mrs. Sappleton was a little off her rocker. But then Vera and Mrs. Sappleton made the assumption that he was afraid of the dogs that her husband had because he ran away while they were coming home from their hunting trip.
3. The plot twist at the end of the story was all due to Vera. Vera lied about the story that Mrs. Sappleton's husband and two brothers died three years ago due to a bog during one of their hunting trips. This gave Framton the assumption that Mrs. Sappleton was crazy. So when Framton saw her husband and the brothers coming home, he thought they were ghosts which scared him and he ran away.
1.) First impressions are very important. Not only because it can determine a job, but also a friendship. You meet new people all the time, and just because someone goes off on you or they get mad at you doesn't mean they are a bad person. They could just be having a bad day.
ReplyDelete2.) In this story the first impression is important because at first the girl,Vera, seems kind of self-composed as she is telling the man the story of her aunt and brothers that were killed in the bog. And the man at first did not seem interested at all. But as she started showing emotion and how she really felt about it the man started to show concern towards her and wanting to know more.
3.) The end of the story has quite a twist. First the niece told Mr. Nuttle that Her aunts husband and two brothers had died. And when he was telling her about his illness, and all of a sudden her husband and two brothers were walking through the field, going towards the window, he was very confused. And was so shocked that he got up and left without saying a word.
1. First impressions in life are very important. If you are applying for a job, and the first time you meet the boss you are not acting appropriate or with manners, you will not get the job. You need to be a good example of who you really are, and how you normally act when it is the first time you are meeting someone.
ReplyDelete2. The first impressions make this story. Her first impression on Mr. Nuttel is that he is gullible. She completely tricks him that her aunt has basically gone insane. When he meets the aunt and starts talking to her, he thinks she is crazy because the girl made the first impression of the aunt.
3. The plot twist is when the husband, 2 kids, and dog shows up he runs off. It turns out that the girl made up that story and made him freak when he saw them. They had just gone out for a day’s hunting. The little girl kept it to herself and caused the dad and kids to have a bad first impression of Mr. Nuttel.
1. First impressions are incredibly important in life. If you have an interview for a job or are meeting new people, it is good to look presentable and act mature. A second impression is also important because if you act or look completely different, it might confuse others.
ReplyDelete2. To Mr. Nuttel, Vera was very mature and calm for her age. It was from the impresstion she gave to him. Because of the way she acted, Mr. Nuttel was able to believe her words, which she took advantage of.
3. By the end of the story, it got a little weird. I actually thought that what Vera said was true. She told Mr. Nuttel that her aunt's husband, brothers, and dog died in a terrible accident and never came home. But then, while he was talking to her, she said that they were coming. Of course, he freaked out and left. Then Vera told her aunt that he probably got scared because of his fear for dogs, that he was onced chased into a cemetary by a whole pack of them and was forced to stay the night in a grave.
1)If you make a good first impression people think of you as a good person. If you make a bad first impression people think of you as a bad person. It all depends on your first impression.
ReplyDelete2)The niece made it seem like her aunt was mental ,and made herself look like a caring person. She used his curiousity to her advantage. She caught him in her trap.
3)The three people and the dog came back and scared the crud out of the guy. I dont think that helped his nerves at all. He ran out of the house and looked like a bolt of white lightning running from them.
1. The first impression is always the most important. It is a clue of what is to be expected from that person. It sets the tone for future encounters.
ReplyDelete2. First impressions are very important in this story. Vera appears to be self possessed and protective, but she seems quite honest.
3. After informing Mr. Nuttel of the tragic loss of her aunt's husband and brothers, they appear back from the hunting trip they had supposedly died on. Frightened out of his wits, he fled. After telling her aunt a false story of how he was scared of dogs, you realize she had made the whole thing up.
1. First impressions are always the first thing you notice when meeting a new person. Usually you try to make a good one but there are always people who don't. If you make a good first impression, many good things can lead from that.
ReplyDelete2. In this story, Vera starts out nice and then ends up making a story about her mom. Mr. Nuttel was very nice and was not rude or interrupting.
3. The twist at the end is that since Vera told him that her mom was dilusional it caused him to believe that and feel bad. Then when he looked and saw the three men coming he was scared out of his mind and ran out. Then when he left Vera told them it was because of his fear of dogs
